Vault Commercial, utilizing Vault E&S paper, provides insurance and reinsurance for individual commercial customers as well as for third party MGAs. We also utilize our own Combination Specialty MGA for exclusive programs which we develop and administer.

Combination Specialty Underwriters (CSU) is our MGA which offers a broad spectrum of specialty coverages for our commercial customers. Utilizing our Vault E&S paper as well as select third party carriers, we’re licensed to underwrite all products except for workers’ compensation in all 50 states.

Vault Custom Risk Solutions (VCRS) provides bespoke products and programs on an E&S basis. VCRS further expands Vault Commercial’s product suite and ability to serve the diverse needs of our customers.

Cate Rooney joined Vault Commercial in June 2022 as Vice President -- E&O. Cate joined from data analytics/insurtech MGA SpottedRisk and has 16 years of experience in professional and cyber liability underwriting and product management roles at major insurance carriers.

Prior to SpottedRisk, Cate was Executive Underwriter, Executive Risks at Crum & Forster, wholly owned subsidiary of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited. There, she was instrumental in re-launching the company’s Cyber and Technology Liability products, leading efforts in the Midwest territory to market the Crum & Forster Executive Risk group as a premier all-lines executive and professional lines market. Simultaneously, Cate had key underwriting responsibilities for the Lawyers Professional Liability book of business consisting of firms with over 100 attorneys.

Before her tenure at Crum & Forster, Cate was a Senior Underwriter with the Midwest E&O and Cyber team at Chubb (formerly ACE USA). There, she was a key contributor to Chubb/ACE’s market-leading efforts in the Cyber and Technology Liability space while underwriting roughly 15 lines of E&O and D&O liability business. Cate was one of a few underwriters at Chubb/ACE nationally tasked with the Architects and Engineers and Lawyers Professional Liability books of business.

Previously, Cate held senior professional liability underwriting positions with Vela Insurance Services, a part of W.R. Berkley Corporation and Argo Pro. At the former, Cate served on the Budget, Audit, Finance, and Investments Committee for the National Association of Surplus Line Organizations (now known as WSIA–Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association). While at Argo Pro, in addition to a full slate of underwriting responsibilities, Cate was appointed Real Estate Product Line Leader, where she developed underwriting guidelines, policy forms, endorsements, and worked closely with claims and actuarial to monitor profitability metrics of the book and report to senior Argo Pro Executives quarterly with recommended rate changes and underwriting actions. Cate was also the underwriting liaison to the development team for Argo Pro’s rating and policy management system.

Cate earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds both the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designations.

Alex Gargano, as Senior Vice President, Underwriting E&S, Alex works with the executive leadership team to execute our Underwriting & Marketing strategy across our insurance company and MGA platform.

Alex has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry in a variety of Underwriting and Marketing senior positions. Alex started his career with AIG in 1989 and has held numerous senior underwriting roles, Prior to his current role, Alex spent 10 years as the Senior Vice President / Eastern Zone Executive for AIG’s Private Client Group. Where he directly managed the effective delivery of personal insurance products and services to high net worth individuals through an independent network of brokers. He held full Profit and Loss responsibility for the Eastern Zone’s $954 million dollar premium base. Responsible for managing and directing the Eastern Zone’s independent producer network, including agency relationship management, production, profitability, compensation and customer retention

Before joining AIG’s Private Client Group, Alex was the Senior Vice President for AIG’s WorldSource Domestic Casualty Division, provided the following coverages and related service solutions to clients: CGL/Products Liability, Workers Compensation, Business Auto, Product Recall. Responsible for a $400 million dollar premium base. Responsible for growing the Domestic Casualty book over 20% for three consecutive years while maintaining a 99% customer retention. Consistently maintained underwriting profitability on division’s portfolio through good risk selection, adequate pricing levels and appropriate coverage selections. Developed premium and marketing budgets, determine appropriate staffing levels and identify marketing expenditures.

Prior to joining AIG’s WorldSource Division, Alex was the Vice President/ Underwriting Manager, of AIG Risk Management Group (AIGRM) where he managed a team of underwriters handling casualty exposures for captive business, responsible for production, pricing, coverages and collateral requirements for the division. Providing underwriting functions for large casualty loss sensitive captive programs for US based companies. Responsible for building National brokerage relationships and underwriting Worker Compensation, Auto Liability and Physical Damage, General & Products Liability.

Adam brings to Vault over 12 years of insurance experience in project management, marketing, product execution, and overall management of an insurance product’s life from conception to fruition. Adam also has experience building first-class policy admin systems by setting clear channel strategies and driving project execution and implementation as Director of Product and Business at Insurance Technologies.

Muhammet's policy admin and portfolio management systems cover the complete policy life cycle and are in use by leading insurance companies such as RLI, Bass Underwriters, JustE, and Gridiron Insurance Underwriters. Previously as Software Director at Insurance Technologies, Muhammet has directed large teams of software engineers and successfully spearheaded the automation of applications including commission management, broker management, and state-tax compliance solutions.

Robert brings to Vault more than twenty years of experience as a financial services technology leader, building fully digital, cloud-based experiences and platforms from the ground-up for startups and growing companies. Previous roles include chief technology officer at Singapore Life, where he crafted the insurance provider's digital experience from its inception. Ross also has experience architecting and developing large scale applications, building, and managing global teams and expanding the capabilities of technology operations at companies including Citi, Microsoft, Allied World Assurance Company, and Axis Capital. Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Northern Illinois where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Before joining the Vault team, he provided his services as a Claims Specialist at Aon Affinity. He held a variety of positions while working for their Travel Insurance department.

Patrick has over a decade of successful experience in specialty insurance coverage. While working with the leading provider of travel insurance in North America, he performed a broad range of tasks, focusing on ensuring client requirements.

Patrick attended Farmingdale State College in Long Island and enjoys playing multiple instruments in his spare time.

Austen Tieri is currently an Underwriting Manager for Vault and Combination Specialty Underwriters.

Prior to joining Vault, he served in various capacities at AIG across Private/Public Directors & Officers, Cyber, Employment Practices, and Professional Liability product lines. He started his career at AIG in the Financial Institutions group and later transitioned to the Commercial team where he was responsible for covering both transactional and renewal business for public companies.

Austen is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned a degree in Finance. Born and raised in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Austen enjoys the ocean, playing hockey, travel and golf as well as spending time with family and friends both near and far.

Currently Mr. Carmilani is the Executive Chairman of Vault Holdings, consisting of Vault Insurance Services, The Vault Reciprocal and its related companies.
Previously he worked at AIG from 1987 to 2002, where he held a series of underwriting and management positions. In early 2002 he moved to Bermuda to oversee and manage AIG’s investment in Allied World (AWAC) and became President in 2004, then added Chief Executive Officer in 2005, ultimately becoming Chairman, President and CEO until Allied World was acquired in 2017 by Fairfax Financial Services. He then assumed title of President of Strategy & Distribution for the Fairfax Insurance entities until he retired in 2020.

Mr. Carmilani is a graduate of the University of Scranton, with a BA in Economics and Finance.

Prior to Vault, James started his career at Allied World Assurance Company managing professional liability and commercial package MGAs and most recently he was a Vice President at Acrisure, where he organized segments of the retail brokerage into consolidated programs.

He holds his BA in economics from Davidson College and MBA in finance from NYU Stern.

Reza Khan is the President of Commercial Lines & Programs at Vault & Combination Specialty Underwriters.

Prior to his current role, Reza served as CEO of several Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) MGUs building professional lines programs including Cyber, D&O and various E&O products.

Before joining RSG, Reza led Allied World’s (AWAC) U.S. Business Development practice and U.S. Program business following AWAC’s acquisition of Darwin.

He spent several years at Media/Professional Insurance (n/k/a: Axis Pro) where he led North American distribution and marketing for a diverse portfolio of Media Liability & E&O products.

Reza spent several years at Aon Affinity developing and underwriting liability coverages for global tourism related businesses including cruise lines and tour operators.

He began his insurance career as an underwriter at AIG while attending the College of Insurance (now St. John’s University School of Risk Management) in New York while studying for his B.B.A. degree. He earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and maintains P&C insurance licenses throughout the U.S.

Jim Enelow is Chief Growth Officer for commercial business at Vault and Combination Specialty Underwriters. In this capacity he leads the company’s commercial strategies related to customers, distribution and marketing.

Prior to his current responsibilities, Jim served as Executive Vice President at Acrisure LLC, where he led the firm’s market management strategy as well as Acrisure’s field team of regional growth leaders. Jim was also responsible for implementing Acrisure’s Industry Centers of Excellence.

Before he joined Acrisure in 2018, Jim spent 9 years at Zurich Insurance Company, where he served as a Global Distribution Leader for the firm. Prior that Jim held the position of Global Head of Zurich's Financial Lines Practice, a $2.5+ billion premium global financial lines portfolio.

Before he joined Zurich, Jim spent twenty-two years with Marsh LLC in various leadership positions based in New York and London. He served as a member of its European and US operating committees and on Marsh LLC’s Board of Directors and its global executive committee.

His roles when based in New York included: Global Practice Leader of Marsh’s Private Equity and M&A Services (PEMA) Practice, Chairman of Marsh's Industry Practices and Chairman of Marsh's Specialty Practices, comprised of the FINPRO, Marine & Energy and Aviation businesses.

Roles while based in London included European Practice Leader of Marsh's Private Equity and M&A (PEMA) and FINPRO Practices and as well as head of the European Client Executive, Sales and Marketing Divisions.

Jim earned a bachelor’s degree from Hobart College in 1987. Prior to Hobart, Jim graduated from Pomfret School. He is a native of New Orleans and lives with his wife, three boys and his golden retriever Gumbo in Riverside, Connecticut.
