Our Leadership

Scott previously worked at AIG from 1987 to 2002, where he held a series of underwriting and management positions. In early 2002, he moved to Bermuda to oversee and manage AIG’s investment in Allied World (AWAC). Scott became President in 2004, then added Chief Executive Officer in 2005, ultimately becoming Chairman, President, and CEO until Allied World was acquired in 2017 by Fairfax Financial Services. He then assumed the title of President of Strategy & Distribution for the Fairfax Insurance entities until he retired in 2020.

Paul was formerly CFO of Tower Hill Insurance Group, one of the largest P&C companies in the state of Florida, and CFO of Crum & Foster, a large national P&C insurer that is part of the Fairfax Financial Holdings Group.

Stephen has held executive positions at TRUE, Tower Hill Insurance Group, and American Modern Insurance Group. His expertise is in building profitable growth strategies, product development, and over-all risk management. Stephen is also an accredited actuary.

Christopher has extensive experience transforming and modernizing technology teams and capabilities. He most recently spent 13 years at Prudential, within their insurance & asset management organizations. A 25-year technology veteran, Christopher has held practitioner and technology leadership roles in tech start-ups, consulting & advisory organizations, and in insurance technology.

Prior to joining Vault, Reza served as CEO of Ryan Specialty Group MGUs with a focus on financial lines (Cyber, D&O, and E&O). Before RSG, he led Allied World’s Programs division. Earlier in his career, he held executive underwriting, distribution, and marketing positions at several U.S. MGUs and insurers.

Our Story
Our Executive Chairman and CEO, Scott Carmilani, saw a gap in the insurance space. As an accomplished insurance industry veteran, he noticed high-net-worth homes were not being delivered an exceptional, luxury product tailored to their specific needs. He pulled together some of the best in the industry to bring the idea to life.
Vault began in 2017 with 9 employees who worked together in the close quarters of an Airbnb residence in St. Petersburg, FL. Driven by the vision that insurance does not have to be difficult to understand with black-and-white coverage, they began to shape our core values and mission: to protect what matters most, our customer’s homes, memories, and legacies. Providing superior coverage that starts with a blank canvas and is crafted with expertise.
By 2018, only one year later, Vault had grown so much we expanded to a full office in downtown St. Pete, which remains the Vault headquarters today.
Now, Vault has become one of the top insurers for excess and surplus insurance in the US. Our company has expanded to 3 offices: New York City, NY, West Palm Beach, FL, and St. Petersburg, FL. We have grown to nearly 300 employees and added a Commercial Lines division.
We are incredibly proud of our rapid growth as an industry leader, thanks to our unique business model centered on custom solutions for affluent individuals, our accomplished leaders, and our team of talented and passionate employees.
